Herpes Genital Warts
If you are infected with herpes genital warts, you may need a cone biopsy to remove warts, but both genital herpes and warts can reoccur because of their viral nature.
In women, the doctor can also use a Pap smear to detect the virus. The doctor can use vinegar to make the bumps visible. If there are no visible signs of the virus such as bumps, tests can be made to discover the virus. There are different ways of diagnosing the virus.

Thus only visual examination and a Pap smear test can prove the presence of the virus. There are no currently any blood test that has proven reliable in the diagnosis of HPV infection. The results of the tests may be suggestive of HPV infection.
