The only known cause correlated to condylomata acuminata is Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) infections. In a weakened immune phase impacted by either genetic makeup or physiological stressers, e.g. smoking, depression, HIV infections or others, HPV impairs production of antibodies to fight its invasion and abnormal growth. The cause of wart viruses also causes lichen sclerosis and the plantar wart.
